Madelvic Electric Car Rally

Madelvic Rally Eventbrite

Did you know that one of the world’s first electric cars was built right here in Granton over 100 years ago? To celebrate Granton’s historic connection with electric vehicles, come along to Madelvic House for the Madelvic Electric Car Rally on 22 October.

Electric vehicles from Western Nissan, Edinburgh College and others will be on display in the car park next to Madelvic House and United Wire from 11am – 12:30pm, before setting off as a convoy to the Electric Bus Museum in Fife.

You’ll be able to find out more about the vehicles themselves as well as visiting Madelvic House and the history:hub archive, which includes the ‘From The Past to the Future’ exhibition.

Railway walk

On Wednesday 10 May, Kenny Williamson (who gave a talk at ‘Made in Granton’ October 2015) is organising a walk over former railway lines, starting at Scotland Street Tunnel/Scotland Yard, heading to Trinity and thence Granton and Leith. The walk will start at 11am and will last for around 2 hours. A few spaces are still available.
A written guide describing the history of the lines covered has been prepared. If you are interested in joining in, please contact Kenny via e-mail

In partnership with the team at Granton:Hub a brief was written around the redevelopment of Madelvic House, considering the wider Granton area, which has given the students the opportunity to respond specific client requirements, support community engagement, and to apply their disciplinary skills to new challenges.

Steering Group meetings

The group has had 2 meetings, on the 1st and 15th of June. There was plenty of discussion and an initial business plan with some figures. Lots of development ideas are needed, but the group is getting more shape and focus.

Any further suggestions, please get in touch.
