granton:hub would like to invite individual artists and makers, as well as artist collectives and community groups to use Madelvic House as the location for their next exhibition.
This call is open to all Artists and Makers: painters, printmakers, photographers, textile artists, ceramicists, jewellers, composers, poets, new media artists to exhibit and showcase their works. The theme for 2021 will be ‘age of recycling’ and we welcome proposals for artworks that are (1) either entirely made up of recycled materials (2) incorporate recycled elements (3) or take the inspiration from what recycling means.
Granton:hub will make available the community garden (for temporary installations) and the main exhibition room free of charge. Artists will be charged a commission of 20% for every piece sold. We give preference to proposals which include an element of community involvement, eg. through local school(s) or groups.
We anticipate time slots at the end of April and June, a group exhibition in August and October/November, and an arts market in December all subject to COVID restrictions.
The October/November slot will mark the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) and we welcome proposals to reflect this theme.
If you wish to discuss in advance please contact 0770 485 6970 or firstname.lastname@example.org
To register interest
Please send an e-mail to email@example.com and include a brief proposal of your plans (maximum 100 words) by end of March 2021. In addition, give your full contact details, your CV and/or website (optional). Send a few images, to give an indication of the nature of your work, the price and dimensions. Do specify which month you prefer if your availability is limited.
Artists can organise individual or a group exhibition, but one artist should be the main lead and take overall responsibility.
There are no restrictions on media used, nor the size of works submitted, but please consider that gallery space is limited and restrictions will apply in the community garden.
If submitting music or digital video then please also give the running time (in minutes) and a short description of the piece.
We will collate all interests and get back to you with details of available dates in 2021, subject to COVID restrictions.
A contract will need to be signed, agreeing all arrangements and time slots. A £10.00 deposit is required to ensure the booking. This will be refunded after the exhibition, but also as a guarantee against any potential cleaning or decorating costs.
Artists will be responsible for curating and invigilating their work. Previews and exhibition times will be promoted through granton:hub mailing list and its website and social media presence. Artists are encouraged to carry out their own promotion and networking.
Whilst every possible care will be taken of works submitted, granton:hub cannot be responsible for any loss or damage incurred during the exhibition. granton:hub does not insure the exhibits. Artists are advised to insure their own work.
Sales & Commission
Artists and/or their agents must attend throughout the exhibition to discuss and promote their work, and complete sales. Artists and makers who have a successful sale will be charged 20% for EACH work sold. Fees are payable by cash or cheque within seven days of the close of the exhibition.
Plinths and Display Equipment
Artists will need to bring their own plinth(s).
If submitting video or music, artists must bring their own equipment and must ensure equipment is PAT tested, with proof of its compliance PRIOR to the exhibition opening.
Removal of Works
The exhibition space must be vacated clean and the walls left tidy and in their original condition.
It will be assumed that the organisers will be able to take photos during the event which can be used on granton:hub social media and websites. Credits will be included where feasible.
