A heritage walking tour hosted by the University of Edinburgh’s Curious Edinburgh digital app was the inspiration for the exhibition ‘Art in Granton‘ in October 2019 held at granton:hub. More than 60 contributions by 30+ artists and makers celebrated the rich industrial history, the urban vistas, the landscapes, the shoreline and the people living and working in Granton. Visitors were invited to experience the walking tour through these artworks and enjoy and learn about Granton’s heritage.
We are pleased that the FREE app has now been updated with a selection of the images of the artworks that were exhibited. This includes, for example, the artworks depicting the Northern Lighthouse board (both were sold), the portrait of Patrick Geddes (also sold) illustrating Granton Sea Quarry, the Gasworks and Granton Castle Walled Garden, and two contemporary interpretations of the Madelvic car factory, of which also one sold during the exhibition.
