Painting for Pleasure workshop is designed for adults of all abilities and, developed as a self-directed art program. Working at your own pace to build confidence, deciding on your own themes/subjects and art materials.

Painting for Pleasure weekend workshop is tutored by local Granton artist Gareth Hutchison. With over 10 years of experience successfully teaching both adult education art courses and private classes.

One-To-One tutoring with helpful techniques, expert advice and creative support in the relaxing and friendly environment of Madelvic House.

For beginners interested to learn how to get started, fundamental skills of drawing & painting with practical guidance.

For art enthusiasts & advanced painters wishing to continue developing techniques, further skill sets and practice.

Relax, chat and enjoy your creativity with an enthusiastic group of people. Learn at your own pace and further develop your interests and passions in paint.

Art Projects: You are encouraged to bring your own projects or themes to work on each day. Project themes or subject matter can range from still life, portraits and people, landscapes/seascapes, cityscapes, buildings, boats, nature, abstract to realist etc.

Gareth will help you every step of the way and support any projects you wish to try. If your unsure as a beginner to painting, Gareth can provide the subject material or suggest project ideas & advice to help you get started.

Materials needed: For Beginners to the painting workshop – Gareth can provide some basic materials when and if required on the first day.

For art enthusiasts & advanced painters – it is recommend to bring your own watercolour A3 paper / canvas board or canvas (of any practical size) and acrylics paints or oils and a range of brushes and oil paints. Easels & boards are also provided.

Tea & organic Coffee is privided free. It is recommended to bring your own pack lunch. Generally lunch breaks last for half an hour, though you can decide & take how many breaks you like.
