Deadline September 30

Calling all artists and makers! We’re inviting submissions from painters, printmakers, photographers, textile artists, ceramicists, jewellers, composers, new media artists, and other disciplines for our upcoming Art in Granton exhibition, from October 25-27, 2019.

Submitted works must relate to the Granton area, and we particularly welcome artworks that take inspiration from the free Granton Curious Edinburgh heritage walking tour, available on their website and through their app.

There is no cost to submit or exhibit, with 20% charged on each sale made. For more details, see the granton:hub website.

Edinburgh’s Granton neighbourhood has a rich history, including being home to the first electric car manufacturer in 1898 – predating Tesla by more than a century. “So many of the historical buildings have been demolished or await renovation, which means the history of Granton is not always visible,” said Gina Fierlafijn Reddie, the granton:hub volunteer spearheading Art in Granton. “This exhibition will help make the invisible visible, which is what artists are able to do.”

Gina is a long time volunteer with Granton Hub and was instrumental in creating the Curious Edinburgh’s Granton walking tour, which launched last year. The idea behind the art exhibition is 2-fold: give extra publicity for visitors and locals to download the tour on the Curious Edinburgh app and learn about Granton and to give artists an opportunity to showcase and sell their work.
