granton:hub // Scottish Natural Heritage

We were delighted to host Scottish Natural Heritage’s Board Reception at Madelvic House in October, where the subject for discussion was Creating Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity.

Our Secretary Louise was given the opportunity to describe the work that’s happening in the community garden, including our weekly Wednesday drop-in sessions and new wildflower nursery.

SNH’s Andy Dorin recently published a blog post about community partnerships in North Edinburgh (which we’re very happy to be included in), which describes the work of Edinburgh Living Landscape on the ‘Square Metre for Butterflies’ and ‘Shoreline’ projects.

You can read the blog post in full here.

Bookbinding Workshop – 27 January

Bookbinding 2018.jpg

We’re pleased to have the first of a number of new bookbinding workshops back at granton:hub on Saturday 27 January.

Cass Barron, of Bookbinding with Cass, and Elisabeth Viguie-Culshaw of The Lansdowne House of Stencils will host a creative workshop introducing the techniques of eco-printing and Coptic binding.

Elisabeth will take you through the process of eco-printing using locally sourced leaves to create nature printed papers. Cass will then guide you to incorporate your creations into handmade Coptic bound journals.

You can find out more details on the Bookbinding with Cass Facebook page.
