27 May: new illustrated talk

 

Kenneth Williamson will be offering a new illustrated talk on some of the history and industries that were in Granton and surrounding area.

Date: Saturday 27 May, from 12 noon to 2pm

Paula Larkin, Archivist from ‘Spirit of Revolt’ and ‘Govanhill Baths’  will introduce the event.

madelvicWe now have a handy programme, listing every activity until the end of May… You can take part in song writing classes, mask making, painting and drawing workshops, bookbinding, yoga and lots more. There are free activities, including our Creative Conversations, the Bookbinders Meet-Up, and the granton:hub Community Gardening Sessions. Come and see the exhibition ‘From the Past to the Future’ every Sunday in May from 12 – 2pm. Members of the history:hub will be able to give you the stories behind the original photos and artefacts from collections and individuals in North Edinburgh.

May what is on offer?

From The Past To The Future

Continuing on from its launch at the Open Weekend, ‘From The Past To The Future’ features original photos and artefacts from collections and individuals in North Edinburgh. Maybe you will recognise yourself in a photo and be inspired to add your memories to the history of the area.

Open from 12 – 2pm every Sunday throughout May at Madelvic House

Classes this week 1-7 May

  • Tuesday 2 May: Granton:Art Club in painting & drawing starts May 2-23, (1 – 3pm); £24 for 4 weeks.
  • Saturday 6 May: Song Writing Workshop, 10:30am – 12:30pm
    This class will take place on 6, 13, 20 and 27 May: a four session ticket is £32
  • Sunday 7 May: Faces of Granton – Portrait Class for Children. 10:00am – 12:00pm. This class will take place on 7 and 14 May: individual tickets are £5
  • Sunday 7 May: Experimental Printmaking. 10:00am – 4:00pm. Tickets: £27.50
